Matt Sherman, Engineering Manager @ Stack Overflow

Matt’s been a fan of Stack Overflow for years. In addition to following updates from the community, he regularly read one of the founder’s blogs, which is what alerted him to a job opening on the team. With years of experience in technology, Matt thought he’d give the application a try—and he got a call back the very next day. After transitioning from an engineering role to a management role, Matt traded in hours of programming to help other developers target weaknesses with data analysis at the center of all development. Though he’s a leader, Matt considers his role one that’s more supportive than managerial—which means he adopts a culture-oriented approach to teambuilding that keeps all team members in the loop.
